S34I Online Training Workshops: Advancing Geospatial Skills

The S34I project launched a series of Online Training Workshops in March 2025, providing a unique opportunity for professionals and researchers to enhance their expertise in geospatial technologies and Earth Observation. Developed by the University of Ljubljana in collaboration with key project partners, these training sessions were designed to share cutting-edge knowledge and methodologies with a global audience.

Comprehensive Training Programme

The workshops covered a range of topics essential for the mining and geospatial sectors, featuring intensive courses, short courses, and video lectures.

1st Intensive Course: Remote Sensing and Change Detection

  • Dates: 10–21 March 2025
  • Instructors: Krištof Oštir, Matej Racic, Tanja Grabrijan, and Bujar Fetai (University of Ljubljana)
  • Focus: Utilising Sentinel time series data for remote sensing and change detection.

Additional Training Sessions

  • Lineament Extraction for Structural Mapping (April 2025)
  • Introduction to Self-Organising Map (SOM) and GisSOM Tool for Environmental Monitoring (April 2025)
  • Ensemble Learning for CRM and Related Alteration Mapping (April/May 2025)
  • UAV Photogrammetric Data Acquisition and Processing (Video Lecture – Available from 31 March 2025)
  • Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) for Shallow Waters Using Nested Boosting Techniques (Video Lecture – Available from 31 March 2025)

The S34I Online Training Workshops are an invaluable initiative for those seeking to stay at the forefront of Earth Observation technologies, remote sensing, and geospatial analysis.
