The S34I project took the international spotlight at ENVIRONSUMMIT 2025 in Paris, where Ana Cláudia Teodoro, coordinator of the project and researcher at the University of Porto, delivered a powerful keynote address on the future of sustainable mineral exploration.
Her message was clear and compelling: mineral exploration must evolve—and Earth Observation (EO) technologies are the key. S34I is demonstrating that exploration can be conducted in a way that is not only more efficient and transparent, but also environmentally and socially responsible.
At the core of S34I’s vision are three essential pillars:
Collaboration, Innovation, and Digitalisation.
These principles are helping to shape a new generation of raw materials strategies across Europe—strategies that prioritise sustainability, data-driven insights, and long-term community engagement.
Appearing at such a high-profile event reinforces the growing influence of S34I within the European research and innovation landscape. The project’s presence at ENVIRONSUMMIT 2025 marks a proud moment and reflects its commitment to transforming the way mineral resources are identified and managed.
As the demand for critical raw materials increases, S34I stands at the forefront of developing smarter, greener exploration frameworks that benefit both people and the planet.
