The S34I project proudly showcased its latest advances in sustainable mining and Earth Observation technologies during the EIT RawMaterials Summit 2025, held in Brussels from 13–15 May under the central theme “Race to 2030.”
As Europe accelerates its path toward greener industry and resilient raw material supply chains, S34I stands at the forefront, driving innovation in digital mining solutions that make exploration more efficient, traceable, and environmentally responsible.

Driving Smarter, Sustainable Mining in Europe
At the Summit, S34I demonstrated how Earth Observation (EO) and digital tools are revolutionising the mining sector by enabling:
More accurate geological exploration
Reduced environmental impact
Improved data transparency and traceability
The project attracted strong interest from stakeholders across the raw materials ecosystem, reinforcing the urgent need for scalable, digital-first approaches to critical raw materials sourcing in Europe.

Collaboration with Industry Leaders
S34I’s impactful presence at the Summit was made possible through the dedication of its consortium partners:
Beak Consultants GmbH – Andreas Knobloch
Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC) – Alicia García-López, Laura Quijano, PhD, Patricia Núñez Cortés
University of Leoben – Rushaniia Gubaidullina
These representatives led high-level discussions with industry experts and policy advisors, including Michele Rubino, Analyst in Responsible Sourcing at EIT RawMaterials, exploring future business collaboration opportunities in sustainable mineral exploration.

Amplifying Innovation Through the ESMIN Platform
As an active contributor to the European Sustainable Mining & Innovation Network (ESMIN), S34I also helped promote the work of complementary EU-funded projects like TERRAVISION EU and DeepBEAT. Together, these initiatives are aligned in their mission to foster innovation and digital transformation across the European mining value chain.
