S34I GET STARTED IN PORTO
New EU-funded project named “Secure and Sustainable Supply of Raw Materials For EU Industry – S34I” will innovate in Earth observation data analysis methods to support the full life cycle of mining.
The project S34I just started on 19TH January with a kick off meeting in Porto, grouping an outstanding consortium of European experts in the field representing different international companies and institutions: Universidade do Porto, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS, GMV, Beak Consultants GmbH, Ecotone AS EUROSENSE, Hellenic Survey of Geology & Mineral Exploration (H.S.G.M.E.), ICAMCyL Foundation, Iberian Sustainable Mining Cluster (ISMC), Spectral Mapping Services SMAPS Oy, Technology Minerals, Universidad de León, TEKNOLOGIAN TUTKIMUSKESKUS VTT OY Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) / Geologian tutkimuskeskus (GTK), Montanuniversität Leoben, University of Ljubljana, Universidad de Salamanca, Aurum Exploration Services, Omya.
S34I will provide 6 new open high added value datasets, 14 new methods to analyse EO data using Artificial Intelligence being utilized at different phases of the mining life cycle, 3 new prototyped EO based services for mining stakeholders, 1 research and innovation agenda on EO for mining, a set of recommendations for better policy, and guidelines for EO uptake by the mining industry.
