The S34I project participated in the 44th International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS 2024), organised by the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS). Held in Athens, this prestigious event brought together over 2,500 experts in the field of remote sensing and Earth observation.

S34I’s project coordinator, Ana Cláudia Teodoro from the University of Porto, played a key role in the conference, chairing the session “Hyperspectral Data Processing and Analysis: Spectral Unmixing.”

Additionally, on Thursday, S34I and the MultiMiner project co-organised the session “Machine Learning Methods for Earth Observation: Applications to All Phases of the Mining Life Cycle.” This session featured a poster presentation at 16:20 and an oral presentation at 17:20, showcasing the latest advancements in AI-driven remote sensing for mining applications.

Throughout the event, S34I delivered four oral presentations, highlighting the project’s cutting-edge contributions to Earth observation technologies, mineral exploration, and sustainable mining practices.
