S34I project brings the first results and starts a revolution in critical raw materials exploration with satellite data. The research is all about finding better ways to handle the materials we need for things like batteries, electronics, and wind turbines—these materials are super important for our high-tech gadgets and eco-friendly devices.

The researcher, in this case, is Joana Cardoso-Fernandes from Universidade do Porto, who says that “what makes this work important is that it helps us become more self-reliant in getting these materials in Europe”.
The S34Iproject harnesses sentinel1 & sentinel2 for systematic mineral exploration in Spain, on land and offshore. Promising results using PCA & band ratios pave the way for enhanced resource autonomy.
